About Advanced Practicum
Higher Education for Nurse Practitioners
and Physician Assistants

ABOUT THE ADVANCED PRACTICUM PROGRAM
Advanced Practicum is a broad educational initiative designed for Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) who are interested in postgraduate-level education and training in important medical specialty areas. The Advanced Practicum program combines didactic educational components with a focused clinical experience to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to provide high quality care in medical specialty areas, in any setting.

Advanced Practicum in Gastroenterology is designed to provide specialized, postgraduate-level training for NPs and PAs who are recent graduates or currently in practice and seeking a career in the specialty area of gastroenterology and hepatology. The program addresses the history, epidemiology, diagnosis and management of gastroenterological diseases that are frequently handled by NPs and PAs. All classes are taught by expert NPs, PAs, and Physicians who are leaders in their field.

THE CURRICULUM
At Advanced Practicum.com you will find online Courses in webcast format organized by disease state areas and divided into specific Classes. Elective classes offer additional in-depth coverage on specific key data. Participants register for a specific medical specialty track (e.g. Liver or GI) and are able to select and complete Courses and Classes consistent with their medical and scientific interests, and in any order they choose. Curriculum progress for each participant will be tracked on the website, allowing him/her to exit the course and return at a later date with an updated status on completed courses and classes.

Alternatively, participants may choose to complete a scientifically rigorous educational curriculum within a medical specialty track, consisting of (10) mandatory core Courses, (4) elective Classes, and online testing. Participants must receive a pass rate of 80% or greater on each class assessment, and all modules in their registered track must be completed within one year of registering for the Program. Once an individual has successfully passed each module assessment within their registered track, they will receive a "Certificate of Completion" for the track and be eligible for a preceptorship. Additionally, AMA PRA Category 1 Credits will be provided.

BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDE:
Dot Online education in webcast format for NP and PA graduates or those currently in practice who are seeking advanced scientific and medical information on critical and relevant GI disease states.
Dot Preceptorship training opportunities that can lead to NP/PA placement in community medical specialty offices specializing in Gastroenterology.
Dot Improved patient and specialty practice outcomes (e.g. clinical and cost effectiveness).
